September 2022 Meeting

Lamplighter's started the 2022-2033 season by first welcoming four guests to our meeting.   Two of the guests had recently joined and two are considering joining.  We are thrilled to welcome them to the fold.

After introductions, President Joan T. welcomed all and started our meeting.  Joan shared that we will continue to offer meetings on Zoom, provided Caryl C. is present at the meeting.   The September and the October meeting will NOT be available by Zoom.

Minutes of the previous Business Meeting were distributed via email prior to the meeting.   Having no revisions, the minutes we approved as presented.

The Treasurer's Report was shared prior to the meeting via email as well.   We discussed the balance on hand and the members thanked Pat L. for her assistance in taking patterns for eBay sales.   This has really helped our treasury grow.

Membership - Robin reported sending out 11 invitations to potential new members prior to the meeting.  Some names were from email inquiries and others were from visitors at our table at the Salem County Fair in early August.   New member packets were handed out for the four guests.   The packets included a membeship coupon, listing of our social media accounts and a list of our proposed meeting schedule.

Regional Meeting - Region Rep. Marian S. reported that the Mid Eastern Chapter of EGA was dissolving.  Some of the Chapters within the Mid Eastern Chapter who wish to remain in EGA have requested to join the Mid Atlantic Region.   We see no disadvantage to our Region for them joining. Marian will be attending the fall Regional Meeting and will report back about any decision.

Also, Region President, Donna P. has sent a questionnaire out to all members via email.  The survey is regarding how EGA came be improved.  The survey is anonymous and Marian urged everyone to complete it.

Programs -   Linda shared a list of proposed programming for the year.

September - Oak Leaf Felt Needlebook project

October - Halloween Project Display by member Beth D.

November - Acorn scissors fob project

December - We will not be doing an ornament exchange this year.

    January - Rhodes Stitch SAL

    February - Ukranian Bookmarks

    March - Overdyed Spools project

April - Annual Dinner Meeting - Sharing of stitching gadgets

    May - Punch Needle demonstration

June - Completion of Overdyed Spools project

July - Christmas in July, July 15th

Outreach - Several members took turns manning a table at the Salem County Fairgrounds during the county fair.  There was a lot of interest and seven interested stitchers left their names and contact information.  It was thought that it would be better is our table was positioned nearer to where the needlework display was set up.  Something to remember for next year.

We decided to again decorate the Christmas tree in the Woodstown Public Library.  It will be decorated the first Friday in December in time for the Woodstown Candlelight Christmas tour.   Decorations will be removed the first Friday in January.   More information will follow.

Challenge - Our 2022 Challenge is to stitch the Jeannette Douglas Designs bouquet of baskets.   The patterns are free and a new one is published the first of each month.   Stitchers can stitch the patterns singly, on banding
or as one piece.  For each month a stitcher completes the monthly design they get entered into a drawing for a prize in January.
